Good Interview Assignment

A good interview entails many things such as asking many concise questions so the interviewee can understand and explain in a way that makes sense, making the interviewee feel comfortable with communication, and starting in a slow manner to build up the questions. An interview needs to answer the questions that the audience might have or that the person interviewing might have, but it is also important to let the interviewee share however much they are willing to share.

When both people in an interview are comfortable and are respecting each other and their space, that is when the interview becomes natural. It is also important for the interviewee to remain honest with their answers. Another very important aspect is when the interview provokes laugher and Ellen does a great job of this.

There is an interview of Ellen and One Direction where Ellen is asking them about their lives in public places. She is making this very light-hearted, making the 5 guys very comfortable with communication. This also makes the audience enjoy the interview more as well.

Near the end of the video, she asks Harry Styles about a rumor that was spreading about him, which could either be a good way to strike up conversation, but it could also make the interviewee uncomfortable and make them close up and be afraid to answer further questions. In this case, Harry just answered briefly and they both moved on from that topic. Ellen kept it light and that is really crucial to any interview.
